O*NET Web Services
O*NET (Occupational Information Network) is the nation's primary source of occupational information, maintained by the U.S. Department of Labor. It is not AI-generated — it's a curated, research-backed database of standardized occupation data.
What O*NET provides to LaunchPath Careers:
- Occupation matching: Links your target job title to a standardized O*NET-SOC code for consistent data
- Skill & knowledge requirements: Official skill profiles used by the Skills Gap Analyzer to identify real gaps
- Related occupations: Informs Career Path Visualization with lateral moves and advancement options
- Job zones & education: Education requirements and experience levels for target roles
How it differs from AI:
- O*NET data is factual and research-based, not generated by language models
- It's maintained by labor market researchers and updated regularly by USDOL/ETA
- O*NET data enriches AI outputs — for example, the AI uses O*NET skill profiles as ground truth when analyzing your gaps
AI Limitations
AI is a tool, not a replacement for your judgment. Here's what to keep in mind:
- AI suggestions may occasionally contain inaccuracies—always verify important facts
- Generated content is a starting point—personalize it to reflect your unique voice
- Company and salary data may not be current—research before making decisions
- Career advice is general—your specific situation may require different approaches
How We Handle Your Data
What we collect for AI features:
- Information you provide in exercises (career history, goals, preferences)
- Resume content when you upload it
- Your interactions with AI tools to improve personalization
- O*NET occupation codes linked to your target role (standardized job classification, not personal data)
What we DON'T do:
- Sell your personal data to third parties
- Use your data to train AI models for other purposes
- Share identifiable information without your consent
- Store AI conversation history beyond your current session
- Send your personal data to O*NET — we only query their public occupation database

🧭How Career Archetype Scoring Works
A high-level overview of our proprietary career archetype framework.
The Career Archetype assessment asks four questions about how you recharge, process information, make decisions, and organize your work. Each question maps to one of four personality dimensions.
Your answers are combined into a 4-letter type indicator. This type indicator is then mapped to one of six career archetypes (Strategist, Connector, Operator, Builder, Architect, Catalyst) using a rule-based scoring system with both override and base rules.
A secondary archetype is also calculated based on your next-closest match. This helps provide a more nuanced picture of your professional tendencies.
How AI uses your archetype: If you enable AI personalization, only your primary and secondary archetype labels are shared with Cosmo Counsel. Raw answers, confidence scores, and retake counts are never included in AI prompts.
This is not an official MBTI® assessment and is not affiliated with The Myers-Briggs Company. Career Archetypes are proprietary to LaunchPath Careers.

Transparency
We clearly disclose when AI is involved. Every AI-powered feature includes a badge and explanation of what the AI does and what data it uses.
User Control
You control your data. You can disable AI personalization, delete assessment data, and export your information at any time from Settings.
Data Minimization
We only share the minimum data needed with AI models. Raw assessment answers are never passed to AI. Only derived archetype labels are used for personalization, and only when you've consented.
Not a Replacement
AI features provide general career guidance and are not a substitute for professional career counseling, financial advice, or psychological assessment. Results are indicative and intended as a starting point for self-reflection.
Independence
LaunchPath Careers is an independent platform operated by UFO Chaser™ LLC. It is not affiliated with any government agency or official credentialing body.
